To access Emerald Faarufushi Resort & Spa from Malé airport, there are two transportation options. The initial choice is a picturesque 45-minute seaplane flight, while the second involves a 35-minute domestic transfer to a nearby airport, followed by a 5-minute speedboat ride.

Usually, we suggest the seaplane option as the preferred choice and so do the resort as the domestic flights are subject to last minute changes and cancellations.

It's important to note that there are no boat-only transfers to Faarufushi Resort due to the considerable distance from Malé.

Emerald Faarufushi is located in the Raa Atoll, approximately 186 kilometres (116 miles) northwest of Malé.

Your Arrival at Malé Airport (MLE)

Upon arriving at Malé airport (Velana International) in the Maldives, following the completion of security procedures and exiting into the arrivals hall, a resort guide will extend a warm welcome. They will provide guidance to the designated location for your subsequent transfer to Faarufushi and can also assist with your luggage.

The method of onward transfer will depend on your choice between a seaplane or a domestic plane.

Option 1 - Seaplane to Emerald Faarufushi Resort & Spa

Your resort guide will help and accompany both you and your belongings to a vehicle bound for the nearby seaplane terminal. Upon reaching the terminal, you can finalize the check-in process and await your seaplane flight. This period offers an opportunity to enjoy close-up views of the seaplanes or relax in the comfort of the TMA lounge with refreshments.

Emerald Faarufushi partners with Trans Maldivian Airways for seaplane transfers to the resort, utilising the world’s largest seaplane fleet, known for its reliability and trusted service.

Once aboard the seaplane, the anticipated duration of the flight is approximately 45 minutes. However, the overall transfer time might be slightly extended if the plane makes stops to drop off guests at other resorts during the journey.

Seaplanes land on the water near Emerald Faarufushi. Upon arrival, you'll disembark onto the arrivals jetty and be able to walk to the island. The resort staff will be readily available to assist guests and ensure the seamless handling of luggage.

Option 2 - Domestic Transfer to Emerald Faarufushi Resort & Spa

Maldivian domestic transfer for Emerald Faarufushi

Ifuru Island is the closest airport to Emerald Faarufushi. The preferred domestic carrier for this route is Maldivian, the leading domestic airline in the country. Maldivian operates regular flights utilizing air-conditioned ATR-72 and ATR-42 turboprop aircraft, along with Dash 8-200 and Dash 8-300 aircraft, known for their sturdy design, advanced safety features, and reliable performance.

This non-stop flight typically takes around 35 minutes. Upon arriving at the local airport island, you will then proceed to embark on a speedboat for a short 5-minute journey to your final destination - Emerald Faarufushi.
