How to get to Kudafushi Resort & Spa

To reach Kudafushi Resort & Spa from Malé airport, there are two transfer options. The first option is a scenic 45-minute seaplane flight, while the second entails a 35-minute domestic transfer to a nearby airport, followed by a 25-minute speedboat ride.

Typically, we recommend the seaplane option as the preferred choice.

It's crucial to highlight that there are no boat-only transfers to Kudafushi Resort due to the considerable distance from Malé (160km or 100 miles).

Kudafushi Location

Kudafushi Resort & Spa is situated on the island of Kudafushi, nestled within the radiant Raa Atoll, north-west of Malé, the capital city of the Maldives.

Your Arrival at Malé Airport (MLE)

Upon arrival at Malé airport (Velana International) in the Maldives, after finishing security procedures and exiting into the arrivals hall, a resort guide will warmly welcome you. They will offer guidance to the designated location for your onward transfer to Kudafushi and can also assist with your luggage.

The mode of onward transfer will depend on your choice between a seaplane or a domestic plane:

Option 1 - Seaplane to Kudafushi Resort & Spa

Your resort guide will assist you and accompany both you and your belongings to a shared vehicle heading to the nearby seaplane terminal. Upon arrival at the terminal, you can complete the check-in process and await your seaplane flight. This interval provides an opportunity to appreciate close-up views of the seaplanes or relax in the comfort of the complimentary Huvandhumaa Lounge with refreshments.

Kudafushi Resort & Spa employs the services of Maldivian Seaplanes for resort transfers. Maldivian Seaplanes operate 15-seat DHC-6 Twin Otter Aircraft and are a reputable airline with a dependable track record.

Once aboard the seaplane, the anticipated duration of the flight is around 45 minutes. However, the total transfer time could be slightly extended if the plane makes stops to drop off guests at other resorts during the journey.

Seaplanes land on the water near Kudafushi Resort. Upon landing, you'll step off onto a floating seaplane platform before transferring to a speedboat or, occasionally, a traditional dhoni (a local ferry boat) for a short trip to the resort’s shores.

Option 2 - Domestic Transfer to Kudafushi Resort & Spa

Ifuru Island is the nearest airport to Kudafushi Resort & Spa. The recommended domestic carrier for this route is Maldivian, the leading domestic airline in the country. Maldivian operates regular flights utilizing air-conditioned ATR-72 and ATR42 turboprop aircraft, along with Dash 8-200 and Dash 8-300 aircraft, recognized for their sturdy design, advanced safety features, and reliable performance.

This non-stop flight typically takes around 35 minutes. Upon reaching the local airport island, you will then proceed to embark on a speedboat for a 25-minute journey to your final destination, Kudafushi Resort & Spa.

Arriving at Kudafushi

As you arrive at the dock after your seaplane or domestic plane transfer, the resort staff will be there to welcome you, and your personal island guide will escort you to the reception lounge for check-in. Your luggage can remain on the boat, where the staff will ensure it is swiftly delivered to your villa. You will receive a short tour of the island on foot while making your way to your villa.
