How to get to Medhufushi

Medhufushi Island Resort, situated in the pristine Meemu Atoll of the Maldives, offers a serene escape from the everyday hustle. Reaching this tropical paradise is an adventure in itself, starting with a scenic seaplane transfer from Malé International Airport.

The 35-minute journey provides breath taking aerial views of the Maldives' stunning atolls, turquoise lagoons, and vibrant coral reefs, setting the tone for a memorable stay.

Due to the considerable distance from Malé, we recommend taking the seaplane option to reach the resort; however, a speedboat transfer to Medhufushi Island Resort is also available.

Medhufushi Location

Medhufushi Island Resort is located in the tranquil Meemu Atoll, approximately 145 kilometres south of Malé.

Your Arrival at Malé Airport (MLE)

Upon arrival at Malé International Airport, guests are warmly greeted by resort representatives who assist with the transfer process, ensuring a smooth and seamless journey to the resort. The airport guide can be easily recognised by the wooden sign bearing the resort's name.

Option 1 - Seaplane to Medhufushi

The dedicated resort guide will assist guests with their belongings and escort them to a vehicle for a brief 5-minute drive to the nearby seaplane terminal. Once there, guests can complete the check-in process and wait for their seaplane flight. The air-conditioned lounge offers a range of refreshments and is also available for guests to use while waiting for their international departure.

Medhufushi Island Resort partners with Trans Maldivian Airways (TMA) for guest transfers. TMA, known for its reliability, operates the largest seaplane fleet in the Maldives. Their extensive experience and commitment to safety ensure a seamless and enjoyable transfer experience for all guests. The scenic seaplane journey not only offers stunning aerial views of the Maldivian atolls but also sets the stage for a memorable stay at the resort.

Once aboard the seaplane, guests can expect a flight duration of approximately 35 minutes. However, the transfer may take a bit longer if the plane makes additional stops to drop off guests at other resorts along the way.

The seaplane lands directly on the water and taxis to the Medhufushi jetty, where guests are greeted with traditional Maldivian hospitality and the enchanting beauty of their island destination. Resort staff are available to assist with luggage, ensuring a smooth and welcoming arrival.

Option 2 - Speedboat Transfer to Medhufushi

Guests travelling by speedboat will be greeted by airport representatives and guided to the boat once it is ready to depart.

The boat transfer takes about 2 hours and 30 minutes. This service may include other passengers who are not staying at Medhufushi, with potential stops along the way.

There are two speedboat transfers per day departing from Malé at approximately 11 am and 5 pm. Transfers from Medhufushi back to Malé depart at approximately 6 am and 11 am.

It is advised that this transfer option is not suitable for children, elderly individuals, or those who suffer from seasickness.
