Malé International Airport (MLE)

Malé International Airport, officially known as Velana International Airport, is the main gateway to the Maldives. Located on Hulhulé Island, just a short distance from the capital city of Malé, this airport is the primary entry point for international travellers. Arriving at Malé

Upon arrival at Malé, travellers disembark from their international flights directly onto the tarmac, where it is best to be prepared for the weather, which will be around 30 degrees Celsius. Guests are then guided to a bus to head to the main terminal. After clearing immigration, they collect their luggage from the baggage claim area and proceed to the arrivals hall. Here, they are greeted by resort or guesthouse representatives holding signs displaying the names of their respective accommodations. These representatives, often referred to as airport butlers, assist with luggage and guide guests to the next step of their journey, whether it be a transfer to a speedboat dock, the domestic flight terminal, or a seaplane terminal. The airport is serviced by numerous international airlines such as Emirates, Qatar Airways, Singapore Airlines, and Turkish Airlines, as well as the national carrier, Maldivian Airlines.
